International Haymaking Festival in Gyimesbükk (Ghimes), Transylvania

Between 22-29 August Pogány-havas Association co-organized the 3rd International Haymaking Festival in Gyimesbükk (Ghimes), Transylvania.

The goal of the festival is to raise local and international awareness about the social and nature conservation value of traditional mountain farming in Romania and bring together people interested in traditional haymaking crafts from all over Europe.

This year more than 40 people participated from the UK, Norway, Austria, Hungary and Romania. The festival was an enjoyable combination of work in the beautiful Carpathian cultural landscape, learning how to sharpen and use scythes, constructing wooden rakes and haystacks and exchanging information.
